Preventing obesity is a hot topic today. Government regulations have restricted what can be served in schools to try to prevent obesity in the early years. The goal is to train the pallet to enjoy foods that do not contribute to obesity at a young age. If fat and calorie laden processed foods are readily available to youngsters, their pallets will be trained to enjoy these foods over healthier options. The best way to prevent obesity is to start instilling healthy eating habits and exercise at a young age.
In adults, preventing obesity is a different matter. Most adults are set in their ways and do not want to change. They enjoy their burgers and fries, and they like being a couch potato. If an adult is not already obese, chances are they are already active, eat right, or have a high metabolism. The way to prevent obesity in adults is to continue eating healthy foods and continue leading a physically active lifestyle. This does not have to be a formal diet and exercise program. Working healthy foods in to daily life as well as choosing physically demanding activities is not as hard as it may sound. Set a goal to eat five servings of fruits and vegetables per day, and get involved in an activity such as biking or hiking. Of course, you must also avoid obviously fatty foods as much as possible.
Another tactic sometimes used in preventing obesity is detoxification or colon cleanse. The idea is that one thing that causes obesity is a buildup of toxins in the system. In theory, if you periodically cleanse the body of these toxins, or cleanse once and take steps to prevent future build up, obesity can be prevented. Methods for detoxification include special diets as well as herbal supplements. These may be used individually or together, but it is always wise to consult a doctor before beginning any method of detoxification.
In the end, preventing obesity is not a difficult concept. The basics are to eat healthy and exercise. In our society however, with so many tempting unhealthy options available, this is easier said than done. Many are not already taking active steps to prevent obesity, so it means an entire lifestyle change, which can be hard. If a change needs to be made, starting with a detoxification diet that lasts for seven to ten days can be a good kick-start. Beware, however, that in the beginning you may feel weak or ill. It is best to begin this kind of diet when you can stick around the house for a few days.
